In the closing months of 1949 a short report in the Herald relating to a match between Castlederg and Gortin at Kilcroagh Park names Campbell and Meehan as outstanding for the home team which went down by2.5 to 2.0. This seems to have been some sort of challenge game in preparation for re-entry to organised football in 1950.
There are official fixtures for Castlederg listed in the local press in early 1950. The club was drawn against Aghabrack in the St. Enda Cup. Later there is a short report of a Davis Cup game at Kilcroagh Park against Beragh –
“The home side opened the scoring with a point per T Doherty, and were put further ahead by Mannion, Meehan and Sharkey to leave the half time score Castlederg 2-3 Beragh 0-0. Better combination by the Beragh forwards earned two quick goals, but Castlederg replied with a further point from McSorley after a lovely solo. Meehan, who played a great game throughout, added another point, but in the closing stages Beragh scored a goal and 5 points to snatch victory b 3-5 to 2-6.”
Fintona were the opponents in the Senior Championship in 1950, winning by 3-2 to 1-2. In that game Castlederg were best served by Doherty, Carlin and Meehan. The team also took part in the West Tyrone Feis 7-a-side competition, only beaten by a late goal against Carrickmore. Various Parish Sports were attended, including the local sports. Urney won at Castlederg Sports and the home team were well served by Mannion, Hegarty, Gallagher and Rushe.
